In late June, Marc Lane was diagnosed with end-stage colon cancer that had spread to his liver, lungs and spine. Due to complications from the severity of the cancer, Marc passed away peacefully and without pain on the evening of July 14th with the comfort of his family at his side.

Marc is the father of six, grandfather of nine and devoted husband to Lori.  In lieu of flowers, we are accepting donations to assist with the overwhelming medical bills that accrued in his fight to stay with us.  Marc was proudly self-employed, but due to pre-existing conditions was unable to acquire health insurance.

One of Marc’s biggest regrets was that he was unable to complete his work on the family home due to his debilitating accident 2 ½ years ago.  If anyone is able to donate any time and/or expertise in helping complete the project, please reach out to the family.

We are sincerely grateful for your support, generosity, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time.

As anyone who spent time with Marc knows, he would have wanted us all to remember him with joy rather than grieve with sorrow
.  If you have a story or memory of Marc that you would like to share with the family, please send to InMemoryOfMarc@gmail.com.

A memorial for Marc will be held on August 7th from 4-7 pm at Idlewylde Community Hall, 6301 Sherwood Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21239.  As Marc would have wanted it, casual dress is preferred.  Leave those ties at home!

Donations made here will go directly to the Lane family.

Lane Family, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. Mr. Lane was an awesome guy, a great man, and a truely great individual that I had the pleasure of knowing through my childhood, adolescence, & as an adult. Mr. Lane will be missed, but always remembered.

To Marc's family and all those who love him dearly, I send my heartfelt prayers that you can soon find peace in this terrible loss. If there is any time that you need the ear of someone who has walked in your shoes, please do not hesitate to call. I can sit and just be quiet with you and everything that could be said will transfer in our shared grief. Fondly, Eileen Mross, 410-878-1981

I am so sorry to learn the sad news about my cousin, Marc. I have had the pleasure of reading his perceptive, thoughtful, humorous and sensitive e-mails, some of which would make publishable short stories. Sadly, we didn't get together in person after our young adult years. I know I would've thoroughly enjoyed time spent with him and meeting you-the family he cherished. Loving thoughts to you all. Sally

My heart is broken to hear of Marc's passing. He loved his family more than words can convey. Even though we hadn't seen each other over the years his last gift to his cousin's was to send us familiy pictures that many of us had never seen before. Marc faced many obstacles but always lived his life with strength, dignity and humor. My prayers and with you Lori and family. Love Elana Lane Sansone

To Marc's family, I'm a friend of Marc's from our high school days. what a fun guy & he enjoyed life to the fullest. Marc went through some tough times with the loss of his brother Rusty. They were so close. I did get to meet up again with Marc at one of West High reunion. He talked about his great wife & his wonderful children. All of you ment so much to him. You were his whole world & filled his heart with love. I was so sad to read in the local paper that Marc had passed away. Please know how sorry I am. My prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. I'm just so glad that I knew Marc & called him a friend. Marc is alway close by...he's in your heart...Peace Marc...always Maggie

Marc always impressed me with his love for family, his creativity, inquisitive mind, and open heart. It was a pleasure to see him and family when I was traveling on the East Coast. On that visit I was impressed with his success as a father, husband, home renovator, and entrepreneur. With Marc we lost a family historian, and one who always reached out. He was taken from us early, but he will live on in our hearts and minds.

To the Lane Family, I had the pleasure of working with Mark as a mail security professional with the Department of Homeland Security. As a previous 23 year security employee of the US Postal Service, I can attest that Mark was passionate about his work and was on the forefront in the mail security industry. Mark’s passion and dedication will surely be missed.
